3 Lessons From Posting Daily for 100 Days
Back on Tuesday September 15th, 2020, exactly 100 days ago, I made a commitment that would change my life.
At least, it changed my autumn.
I committed to writing an email to my email list every single weekday for 5 weeks.
And I did it. Didn't miss a day. And I blew past 5 weeks - today represents almost 14 and a half weeks of it.
This is me giving myself a little pat on the back. 😁😂
However, it wasn't the smashing success I thought it would be.
I obviously found enough value to keep doing it for over 14 weeks instead of just 5, but beyond that it unfolded as a bit of a surprise for me.
The 3 main things I learned:
You get used to it. It wasn't nearly as nerve wracking by week 5 as it was on day 1.
I didn't write my other stuff. It's almost as if my life is a fixed pie and by allocating time and energy here, it wasn't going elsewhere.
The big benefits were mostly internal. My current theory is that most of our business problems are actually personal problems is disguise. From that perspective, it makes sense that most big external changes flow from big internal changes.
I talk about each of these things more on this week's podcast (found below).
Also, my big announcement: I'm going to take a bit of a break from the daily emails.
Why break if it's still worth it?
Well, we're expecting a new kid, so I'm scaling back. I'm targeting February(ish) for my return to daily emails.
Thank you again.
Happy Holidays! Happy end of 2020! I'll see you next week.
