new chart - SUCCESS VS. SUSTAINABILITY
Very few of us set out to be one-hit wonders. 🎵 i.e. We hit success big time, and then burn right out. That's generally not our goal. Most of us want to be successful AND we want to be able to sustain that success over time.
There's a few interesting things I want to point out about this relationship between success and sustainability:
We all probably have a minimum amount of success we want in life. Sometimes this is driven by past trauma, sometimes by our best selves, and often by a mix. For now, don't judge yourself (or try to change it), just try to be aware.
We all probably have a minimum amount of sustainability we need. Don't have enough? Then that success you wanted in number 1 above will disappear over time.
Sustainability is entirely subjective. Don't let someone else (including me) tell you whether you're doing it right. How does it feel to you?
Our measure of success (not necessarily how we're doing on that measure) is part determined by ourself, and part determined by those around us. Be intentional about who you surround yourself by, and what you're subconsciously accepting from them.
At times I haven't been sure that the promised land exists (where you've got high success that's highly sustainable), but I've seen people who say they're in it, so let's assume it exists. ☀️ However, DON'T presume that their path there will be the same as your path there - considering how bespoke your sustainability (and your journey) is (and are), it would make sense to me that we each have our own journey there.
Finally, don't judge yourself for wherever you are on this chart. 💙 Self-judgment pretty much always drains your cup faster and makes things less sustainable.
Until next time, remember: You got this. 😊
