Current Understanding of Personal Transformation
I remember asking my business mentor about what I should be focusing on as I built my coaching business. I had all these big ideas - a blog, a podcast, workshops, etc.
He said, “what would you do if you could only work on this business one hour per day?”
And for me, there were really only two things:
I would focus on actually doing the work - coaching.
And I would also focus on becoming the best coach possible.
As part of becoming even better and understanding how growth actually works, I’ve recently made a map of my current understanding of it (see above).
The things this map centers around the ACTIONS <--> BELIEFS <--> FEELINGS triad (the basis of CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Theory).
Your actions lead your beliefs, your beliefs lead your feelings, and your feelings lead your actions. It’s a circle, and it can either be a virtuous circle or a vicious cycle.
