Current Understanding of Personal Transformation

My current understanding (as of July 2021) of personal growth and change.

My current understanding (as of July 2021) of personal growth and change.

I remember asking my business mentor about what I should be focusing on as I built my coaching business. I had all these big ideas - a blog, a podcast, workshops, etc.

He said, “what would you do if you could only work on this business one hour per day?”

And for me, there were really only two things:

  1. I would focus on actually doing the work - coaching.

  2. And I would also focus on becoming the best coach possible.

As part of becoming even better and understanding how growth actually works, I’ve recently made a map of my current understanding of it (see above).

The things this map centers around the ACTIONS <--> BELIEFS <--> FEELINGS triad (the basis of CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Theory).

Your actions lead your beliefs, your beliefs lead your feelings, and your feelings lead your actions. It’s a circle, and it can either be a virtuous circle or a vicious cycle.

Today, we discuss a few things including:

  • My new (most compelling) reason to be pulling on both the reality lever AND the perspective lever if you’re trying to make yourself happier.

  • The right way to approach yourself when you’re feeling stuck.

Join us this week as we discuss this and more.
